Hun Manet: The CPP is Not Perfect, But it is a Party That Checks Itself Regularly

KANDAL: Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, a permanent member of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and chairman of the Central Youth CPP, stated that in order to increase efficiency in serving the people and efforts to change and fill gaps in the implementation of work to ensure contindued support from the people, "the Cambodian People's Party has always scrubbed itself (improved itself) regularly."

In a clip posted on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 7 December 2022, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet can be seen remarking that the CPP is not obsessed with victory and always asks itself if there is anything in society that is not satisfactory for the people.

"Fellow citizens, the Cambodian People's Party won the election and continues to be in people's hearts because we check (improve) ourselves constantly and strive to solve negative issues,” he said. “We are not perfect; it is over if we think of ourselves as perfect."

He further added that because of this self-awareness, the party has accepted constructive criticism to to help solve people's problems and serve the people. Therefore, the party has five approaches (looking in the mirror and reflecting, showering, scrubbing, treating, and surgery) to remind itself that it is not perfect.

"It is better for the CPP to treat (improve) itself than being treated (by the people),” he said. “Be careful, if the people no longer trust you, they will have someone else perform surgery on you ( have your position removed); it's over then. However, the CPP always recognizes its shortcomings and tries to solve problems.”
